Brian Eno and Grizzly Bear can announce a limited edition 12” for Record Store Day, featuring Nicolas Jaar remixes from their landmark 2012 albums ‘LUX’ and ‘Shields’.____________________________________________________________________________
Grizzly Bear – ‘Shields’
Grizzly Bear released their album ‘Shields’ (September 17 2012) to great critical acclaim and commercial success, reaching number 7 in the Billboard Charts (the band’s best chart position to date and second US Top 10) and Top 20s in the UK and across Europe. Mojo heralded the album as "...heroically creative " and New York Times said it’s "Shadowy, reverberant, and bittersweet”. After being awarded iTunes’ coveted Album of the Year prize, the band are moving on to an even-busier 2013 with major appearances at festivals including Coachella, Governors Ball and Primavera, the co-curation of ATP’s I’ll Be Your Mirror (with Yeah Yeah Yeahs), and touring major US venues with The xx… with much more to come.
Brian Eno – ‘LUX’
‘LUX’ (released November 12, 2012), found Eno expanding upon the types of themes and sonic textures that were present on such classic albums as Music For Airports and Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks. The album was first heard with special playbacks at notable global locations including Tokyo’s Haneda Airport (an event dubbed ‘LUX For Airports’) and the Sydney Opera House. Widespread listener love included New York Times “killingly beautiful”, Uncut “…the best kind of Eno album…the ideal ambient record”, and Pitchfork, whose 8.0 review said "Sometimes it's hard to not say anything; Brian Eno is doing just that, once again, and beautifully"
Chilean-American artist Nicolas Jaar started releasing music on the Brooklyn scene at just 17. His first and only album to date ‘Space Is Only Noise’ was released in January 2011. Nicolas Jaar will also perform at ATP’s I’ll Be Your Mirror curated by Grizzly Bear.
Designed and printed by Edwin Pickstone & Ivor Williams on a FAG Control 525 Swiss-built semi-automatic cylinder proofing press in Glasgow. Type was a mix of 35 line sans condensed and 50 lined grotesque super-condensed and was left 80% black, deliberately broken print to echo the sentiment of remixes carrying the remnants of the original.
